David Beckham Scores Another Tattoo - A Christ Tattoo Design

Christ Tattoo Design

Soccer celebrity and tattoo enthusiast David Beckham continues to capture his life's most cherished Biomechanical memories in tattoo body art. Beckham already had more than 17 tattoos when he unveiled his latest tattoo design at AC Milan's victory over Juventus in Turin on January 10th.

The black and gray tattoo rendition of The Man of Sorrows – originally painted by Catholic artist Matthew R. Brooks – adorns Beckham's lower right abdomen. The tattoo illustrates the Christ figure sitting on the cross wearing a crown of thorns, with blood streaming down his back.

Beckham got the tattoo as a tribute to Joe West, who passed away in December 2009. West was Beckham's grandfather, and father of his mother Sandra. Beckham chose a Christian theme for this particular tattoo, even though West practiced Judaism.

But, it would appear that Beckham keeps an open mind when it comes to choosing his body art. His many tattoos range from a Hebrew inscription, a Chinese proverb and Roman numerals...to numerous Christian tattoos, including an angel with the text 'In the face of adversity', and a winged cross on the back of his neck, with a guardian angel positioned above. He also has each of his three son's names in ink on his back. And, one of his most famous tattoos is of his wife Victoria's name, which is written in Hindi on his left arm.
