Red Hot Chili Peppers Tattoo
The legendary rock band photographed many of their tattoos for the liner notes of their 1991 masterpiece Blood Sugar Sex Magik. And there were a lot of tattoo designs to choose from. Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea (birth name: Michael Balzary) has collected more than a half-dozen tattoos: a multi-colored elephant walk encircles his left arm, and various tribalpatterns adorn his arms and chest. On his left bicep is a lifelike portrait of Jimi Hendrix, an important musical influence on the four-piece band. Lead singer Anthony Kiedis has a multitude of tattoos as well, including several elaborate tribal designs, as well as an American Indian tattoo (his grandmother was part Mohican). Guitar god John Frusciante sports a large, angry octopus on his right bicep and shoulder. Some unresolved issues there. And even drummer Chad Smith is a fan of the ink, with several tattoos including a large Asian tiger. In the volatile world of pop music, The Red Hot Chili Peppers have demonstrated incredible staying power, having been together since 1983. The band that sprays together, stays together.
